Neurodiversity series with Sarah Warley - Autism and ASD type behaviours
Last week, Sarah Warley, founder of The Key Clinic, kicked off the first of the Neurodiversity webinar series for the Dukes Club, with a talk on 'Autism and ASD type behaviours'. She was joined by Dr Alexandra Davidson, Senior Neurodevelopmental Practitioner, to discuss the signs, symptoms and challenges children with autism might face. However, she was keen to point out that autism is not a ‘lifelong disability’ and that there are some benefits in having autism which neurotypical people won’t have.
Sarah went on to explore mainstream treatment approaches and compared these to some of the treatments that the Key Clinic administer. Explaining the link between the immune system and the brain function, and how the stomach is the 'second brain', Sarah and Dr Alex explained how non-drug, biomedical treatment outcomes are much more successful than drug based mainstream treatments. With hypersensitivity being a common symptom of autism, Sarah talked about how auditory treatments can help to rewire the ears and brain, and make the world a lot more comfortable for those struggling with hypersensitivity.
