How To Support Your Child Through Revision and Exams with Brilliant Brain Food
Lucinda Miller, NatureDoc, joined us yesterday for a fascinating discussion highlighting which foods are fantastic for aiding brain function, and nutrition tips for revision and exam success.
Lucinda began by emphasising there is no bad food, the volume of certain foods might be affecting your child, and that's why it's important to learn which foods are beneficial for the brain.
Lucinda noted that children that eat more fruits and vegetables usually grow well, have a good immune system, can be more curious and creative, and are less likely to be bullies and be bullied. Lucinda moved on to explaining what ultra processed food is, using crisps as an example, and that they have been created to be very addictive with the flavourings that are used, making it likely to eat the whole packet.
Discussing the role of the blood glucose balancing, Lucinda discussed which foods have a high glycaemic index, and the importance of pairing these foods with fat or protein in order to better balance blood glucose. After sharing all this fantastic knowledge about food and it's effects, Lucinda shared advice on what parents can do in order to help their children eat more of these brain boosting foods.
