A private tour of the Courtauld Gallery
Dukes Club members were treated to a private tour of the Courtauld Gallery with Candida Cave, arts doyenne and Principal of Hampstead Fine Arts College.
Cave led the tour group through the Weston Room and the LVMH Great Room of the recently – and spectacularly - restored Courtauld at Somerset House in central London, exploring the works of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionsts. The Courtauld Gallery has a truly world-class collection of works by the likes Cezanne, Manet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Renoir and Monet. Club members viewed works such as A Bar at the Folies-Bergere by Edouard Manet and La Loge by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, brought to life by Cave’s amazing historical and technical knowledge of each painting. One parent said: “This tour was gold dust. I had no idea that these amazing paintings were here and to have Candida talk so eloquently about each one is just fabulous. I can’t wait for the next Dukes Club art tour.” Another parent shared her thoughts via the platform "Thank you to The Dukes Club for organising the Courtauld Gallery tour. I enjoyed it immensely and would love more of such events. Candy’s great knowledge and passion of the arts helped put what we saw in context and as she rightly said, we have so much to explore on our doorstep!"
